Kate Johnstone

Course Manager (equine science and management)

Kate is also a lecturer in equine areas such as equine management, production and evaluation, equitation science and equine behaviour and welfare

Her experience stem from being stable manager at a range of equine businesses such as vet yard, international eventing and dressage yards and further and higher education. She has been in teaching roles in education for over 20 years and brings a wealth of experience of teaching equine students. She is an external examiner in higher education for Craven College. Her qualifications are wide and cover a range of practical and academic areas: BHSII, BHSSM, BSc (hons) in Equine Sports Coaching, British Eventing development coach, and is currently completing a MSc in Equitation Science.

Research Interests:

Working in collaboration with University of York on equine biomechanics. Also how using learning theory in training horses can improve welfare – both equine and human!
