RHS Level 2 Certificate in the principles of plant growth and development is a theory-based qualification to develop the essential skills needed to work in horticulture or to further develop your interest.

This course is delivered as an evening class at our York Campus

 

 

Dates and Times

This course will commence in the week beginning 23rd September 2024 and complete in the week beginning 16th June 2025.

The RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Practices of Horticulture

This highly respected and widely recognised qualification is ideal for professional gardeners and horticulturists seeking to gain formal qualifications, as well as for those looking to move into the horticulture industry and passionate amateur gardeners seeking to expand their knowledge. The RHS Level 2 Certificate is designed to embed current horticultural best practice, whilst embracing core principles of sustainability. The full RHS Level 2 Certificate consist of two separate qualifications, as outlined below:

  • RHS Level 2 Certificate in Practical Horticulture
  • RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Plant Growth and Development

Key Information

This is a theory-led qualification and is delivered primarily through classroom-based learning with some practical tasks. It covers a wide range of horticultural knowledge and understanding including:

  • Planting Styles
  • Horticulture and Society
  • Biodiversity

Assessment consists of:

  • Two written examinations, which take place in February (Unit 1) and June (Unit 2)
