Complete a year studying a variety of agriculture related modules such as livestock, crops, estate skills, machinery and business management, whilst re-sitting GCSE English or Maths alongside to enable them to progress to either T-level Agriculture (Livestock pathway) or T Level Agriculture (Crop Production).
Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs
at grade 4 (old GCSE grade C) or above, to include 2 from English, Maths or Science with at least a grade 3 (old GCSE grade D) in the remaining subject. This course would be offered whereby the applicant has a grade 3 in either English or Maths from the aforementioned and will need to continue to study and re-sit that subject.

A work experience day is built into the course to further enhance your practical skills. A feature of the course is the visits to a range of organisations, farms, shows and demonstrations.
Your course is assessed by:
- A multiple choice health and safety exam
- A written subject exam
- Written and practical assessment under controlled conditions
At our York campus students will have access to Westfield Farm and Home Farm, based in nearby Askham Richard.
4 GCSEs at grade 4 (old GCSE grade C) or above, to include 2 from English, Maths or Science with at least a grade 3 (old GCSE grade D) in the remaining subject. This course would be offered whereby the applicant has a grade 3 in either English or Maths from the aforementioned and will need to continue to study and re-sit that subject.
Alternatively a suitable Level 2 vocational qualification (Merit or above) with English, Maths and Science at Level 2.
Progression routes include progression to T-Level (upon successfully gaining grade 4 in the GCSE re-sit subject).
Working in industry, higher level Apprenticeships or travel and working overseas.
Progression and Development Sessions:
All students enrolled on a Level 2 or Level 3 course will be required to attend Progression and Development sessions every week. These sessions will cover a wide range of topics from careers and employability, British Values and equality and diversity to essential life skills such as mental health and wellbeing, drugs and alcohol and personal safety.
Students are to complete a minimum of 150 hours in their first year and 315 hours in their second year of study. (Some students may opt to complete the 315 hours in their first year, this will be discussed during induction)
Ideally students should find their own work placement provider, however we do have a list of providers which we may be able to contact should you be unsuccessful in finding a placement independently. While most students undertake placements on farms, we have had students carry out their work placements in auction marts, farm shops, agricultural contracting businesses, machinery dealerships and country stores. Work placement may be carried out on family home farms.
PPE costs (steel toe cap boots, wellies, overalls and a white labcoat)
Trips, visits and enrichment activities are included in the course fee charge of £75.00 which can be paid at the start of the course (instalments or a lump sum).
