Prepare to elevate your career to management positions within the equine industry. You can sharpen your expertise in evidence-based management, focusing on the horse, the rider, and the facilities. Whether it’s mastering the horse husbandry to ensuring the highest standards in facility management, our programme is tailored to turn your aspirations into reality.

Our on campus commercial Equestrian Centre is there to facilitate your learning as includes three indoor yards, indoor and outdoor arenas, representing high-quality industry standard equine training facilities. With British Horse Society approval, as a registered training and examination centre for horse care, riding and coaching, we offer a breadth of professional training opportunities for those engaged in equestrian sports.

At University Centre Askham Bryan, we don’t just teach equine management; we are passionate about sharing it with the next generation of industry leaders and have designed this programme to support your professional and personal development with the field of equine sciences and innovative management techniques.

Key Information

Applicants should have achieved:

β€’ 84 UCAS Points

β€’ 5 GCSE’s including Maths English and Science at Grade C/4 or above. Equivalent qualifications may be accepted in lieu of GCSE’s. Applicants must have successfully completed a full Level 3 study and/or have significant industry experience.

Some students may be asked to attend an interview.

 

Applicants who believe they may be eligible for Accreditation of Prior Certificated and/or Experiential Learning (APCL/APEL) will be considered on an individual basis. If you have any queries in relation to entry qualifications, then please contact the University Centre directly.

Students studying the course may enter a wide variety of roles and areas in the industry Such as stable manager, equine nutritionist, equine breeding, coaching and training and event management.

Many students may progress further onto a Masters, PhD or other professional body courses.

Although not compulsory for BSc (Hons) Equine Science with Management students work experience can be invaluable in providing a practical understanding of the equine industry, allowing the application on theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios.

 

Work placement is completed with an external employer which is arranged by the student. Such placements include Equine yard, coaching, welfare and stud work, event management and marketing roles within the equine industry.

All work placements are subject to a health and safety check by the college to ensure that placements are suitable and safe. Support can be made available via the module tutor to help locate a suitable placement.

Practical assessments bridge theory with real-world application, helping to shape your subject expertise. There is also opportunity to undertake applied research as part of an honours research project (honours pathway only).

In addition to tuition fees and accommodation if applicable, , students will need to budget for extra costs as part of this course and will be responsible to cover them.
