Askham Bryan College Hosts First Apprenticeship & Skills Training Networking Event

Askham Bryan College successfully hosts their first Apprenticeship & Skills Training Networking Event, on Friday 21st March.

The event saw employers from various sectors, invited to their York campus to find out about the benefits of bringing and apprentice into their workforce as well as the short courses they offer to help enhance employee skills. They were also able to network with other business all with a cup of coffee and a bacon sandwich.

Attendees had the opportunity to hear from Ritchie Bywater, Head of Apprenticeships, and Katie Rowland, Head of Commercial, who shared insights on the apprenticeship courses they offer and the potential short courses available to help develop their teams skills.

They also heard from Ben and Jamie from Moortown engineering, who shared their personal experiences both as an apprentice and as employer who hosts apprentices.

Ritchie Bywater said: “It was really valuable to showcase the apprenticeships and short courses we offer to support employers maximise their potential and revenue. The morning provided us an opportunity to speak to land-based employers and this provided a platform to discuss employer needs. The speech from a current apprentice, Ben Howes and employer, Jamie Crabtree, both from Moortown Engineering was the epitome of apprenticeships and their values in employers workforces.  The success of the event has led to us committing to more in the future years in order to build stronger working partnerships with the employers and positively impacting the future skills of learners.”
