Rosy is a Course Manager and Lecturer in Animal and Equine Science at the University Centre Askham Bryan. Her industry experience includes 10 years working in equine management settings. This included working within a city-based riding school environment and at a college-based competition venue and yard that hosts prominent competitions. Notable events she has been involved in the facilitation of include; FEI para-dressage international events, British Showjumping Pony Premier Competitions, The Regional British Dressage Finals, and the venue’s own British Eventing horse trials. Rosy holds a Master’s Degree in Equine Science, a Post-graduate Certificate in Education, and a First-class Honours Degree in Equine Therapy and Rehabilitation. Rosy is also a qualified Equine Massage Academy practitioner specialising in advanced myofascial release techniques. Rosy’s areas of teaching specialism within UCAB are modules concerning animal and equine health and diseases, anatomy and physiology nutrition, laboratory skills and genetics.

Diet related disorders in the UK donkey population
The prevalence of a wide range of diseases and disorders within the UK equine population.
Current PhD student at the University of York. Researching methods of integration of primary research articles within higher education delivery and increase the students confidence in their ability to understand and critical analyse journal articles. ‘The integration of a modified CREATE approach in HE in FE settings’.

Rosy has presented findings from the projects below at the Alltech Student Conference and Hartpury College (2016 and 2018), The Equine Performance Conference at University Centre Bishop Burton (2018) and The Changes in the Animal Industry Conference at UCAB (2020) ‘The prevalence of diet-related diseases and disorders in the UK donkey population’ (undergraduate dissertation) ‘The prevalence of a wide range of equine diet-related diseases and disorders and possible associated risk factors’ (postgraduate dissertation) Rosy has presented findings of her PhD project so far at the Joyful Education: Practice and Pedagogy Annual Meeting at the University of York (2023), and The Advance HE CBHE Network Festival of Scholarly Activity and Research (2023). Rosy also presented two academic posters on the topic of dorsal spinous impingent in horses on behalf of a student at the 2022 International Equine Exercise Physiology Conference in Uppsala Sweden.
